Commercial teams may be used to case studies, conference talks, open code and team posts. Dual-use work asks different questions about what is shared, with whom and under what conditions. The line often becomes visible only after it has been crossed.

Where AI comes in

Every tool that helps people work faster can change what leaves the building. Pieces that are harmless alone can add up to something sensitive once they are gathered together.

What I do

The same diagnostic, focused on where commercial and dual-use work meet: releases, sales, engineering, communications and the AI tools people already use.

What I do not do

Controlled Goods registration, security clearances, procurement or bids. You will need specialists for those; I can point you to them.

Where I learned this

I led product design for a data platform as it moved from telecom into public safety and enterprise. The data stayed the same. What changed was who could see it, what each market called it, and what each was allowed to do with it. Every one of those markets had a fair claim on the design. Holding all three took more than a compliance plan.
